Quilts Uncommon

Sparkling Jewels are small, highly embellished quilts.  The quilts are protected and displayed in black shadow box frames. 

These artworks begin with white cotton.  Using various techniques, including dyeing, painting and printing, I create fabrics with layers of color and pattern.  I combine pieces of this fabric to create the quilts.  Next I add more layers of design using beads, buttons and many other items.  Each quilt takes on it’s own personality as I work on them, so no two are ever alike.
